Senior DevOps Engineer - AWS CloudWatch

Engagement Details

Our client is a global technology consultancy focused on designing and implementing secure, observable cloud architectures embracing Everything as Code (EAC) approach, so our clients can focus on their business goals. We can provide strategy, design, implementation, and follow-the-sun support. We also create custom software products when there are missing links in current solutions.

Our areas of expertise are data-intensive cloud applications supported by RDBMS and NoSQL solutions, CI/CD using DevOps and DevSecOps pipelines, total observability from client to application in the cloud, and hybrid architectures.

We're looking for a Senior CloudWatch Engineer to join our growing team and play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud monitoring strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement comprehensive monitoring solutions using CloudWatch for our critical cloud infrastructure and applications.
  • Develop and maintain custom metrics, dashboards, and alerts to proactively identify and troubleshoot performance issues.
  • Optimize cloud resource utilization and identify cost-saving opportunities through CloudWatch insights.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to define monitoring requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Automate monitoring tasks and workflows using scripting languages like Python or Bash.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest CloudWatch features and best practices, and share knowledge with the team.
  • Participate in incident response activities and provide root cause analysis for cloud-related issues.

Location

Remote anywhere in the United States.

Arrangement

W2 full-time (Green card, US Citizen, H4-EAD, GC-EAD).

Required Qualifications

  • Upper-intermediate to fluent speaking and writing English. Able to have a real-time conversation.
  • 7+ years of full-time hands-on DevOps experience.
  • 5+ years of full-time hands-on AWS experience.
  • 5+ years of full-time hands-on CloudWatch experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of CloudWatch concepts, including metrics, logs, alarms, and dashboards.
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.) for automation tasks.
  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts (networking, storage, compute).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Proven ability to document processes and procedures clearly and concisely.

Nice to haves

  1. Experience with other cloud monitoring tools (Datadog, Prometheus, etc.).
  2. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
  3. AWS certifications (CloudWatch, Solutions Architect).
  4. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent demonstrated ability.
