Content Localization Manager

We're a USA-based company producing video solutions with the mission to advance scientific research and education. Our institutional clients comprise over 1,000 universities, colleges, and biopharma companies, including such leaders as Harvard, MIT, Yale, and Stanford. As a rapidly growing company, with offices in the USA, UK, Australia, and India servicing clients in over 60 countries, we are seeking talented individuals to join our company. Join our team as a Content Localization Manager, where you'll play a pivotal role in overseeing the translation and production of educational content voiceovers and CC in English and various foreign languages. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of language localization. Your expertise will be crucial in preserving the integrity and effectiveness of our educational materials across all language versions, leveraging your strong background in both language localization and project management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive translation strategies to enhance efficiency and ensure high-quality outputs.
  • Collaborate closely with content creators (education team), understanding the original material to guarantee the research and educational objectives are met in the translation.
  • Directly manage and support the translation department, ensuring the team of VO producers and translators are motivated and delivering efficient, high-quality service.
  • Oversee the project management of major contracts, defining workflows and processes to optimize productivity while minimizing costs.
  • Maintain a detailed schedule, coordinating with a team of translators and proofreaders to meet tight deadlines.
  • Uphold rigorous quality control processes, including review, editing, and finalization of translated materials, including working with external vendors and agencies.
  • Establish and maintain a terminology database for consistent use across all content.
  • Keep a constant pulse on workload forecasts to ensure readiness for upcoming demands.
  • Engage in continuous leadership development, providing support, communication, training, and supervision to all team members.
  • Identify and integrate new technologies powered by AI, procedures, and workflows to benefit the Translation Department.
  • Manage key accounts, striving to enhance business through excellent customer service and tailored solutions.
  • Perform vendor management, including the recruitment and ongoing evaluation of suppliers (translators) to expand the supplier pool and ensure the best quality and pricing.
  • Assign translators and issue Purchase Orders for specific projects.
  • Juggle multiple translation projects simultaneously, liaising with the education team and translators on current and upcoming projects.
  • Manage effective communication channels.
  • Conduct rate negotiations and perform risk analysis for translation services.
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Upper-intermediate to fluent speaking and writing English. Able to have a real-time conversation.
  • 5+ years of full-time hands-on Content Localization experience.
  • 3+ years of full-time hands-on Team Management experience.
  • Proven experience as a Content Localization Manager or a similar role in a multilingual project environment.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken; proficiency in other languages would be an additional asset.
  • Strong project management skills with the capability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality content.
  • Knowledge of education sector terminology is a significant advantage.
  • Familiarity with translation software tools and content management systems.
  • Commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to ensure that the Translation department delivers projects within budget.
