Our client started with the mission of bringing a simple payment experience to the text space. Over the past five years, They’ve continued to innovate on what a simple payment conversation really is.
Their platform manages the mission-critical task of billing and payments on behalf of their partners and customers, removing the burden of investing in additional resources, infrastructure, and a customer management web portal. It also provides the 70% of consumers who live paycheck to paycheck the power to authorize bill payments quickly and on their terms.
Located in Southern California, they’re located in the heart of Silicon Beach, the second-largest technology hub in the world. We are a lean startup, resourced and managed by a group of experienced technical and business professionals.
About the Role:
We are seeking a talented and driven Backend Developer who is proficient in TypeScript and has solid experience working with AWS. As a backend developer on our team, you’ll be responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing server-side applications and services that power our products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and high-performance solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs in TypeScript.
- Work with AWS services to build, deploy, and manage scalable backend applications.
- Ensure security and reliability by implementing best practices in authentication, data storage, and system architecture.
- Collaborate with frontend developers, designers, and other backend developers to deliver high-quality, user-focused products.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging, contributing to overall codebase quality.

- Remote from any country.
- Must be available to work until 12pm Pacific Time (later would be great).

Required Qualifications
- Advanced speaking and writing English. Able to have a real-time conversation.
- 2+ years of full-time hands-on Software Development experience.
- 2+ years of full-time hands-on Backend JavaScript/Typescript experience.
- 2+ years of full-time hands-on AWS experience.
- Hands-on experience with core AWS services such as Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, Step Functions, and/or API Gateway.
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design and development.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases and data modeling.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and deploying backend applications to cloud environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with an ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Nice to haves
- Experience with serverless architectures.
- Exposure to unit testing and test-driven development.
- Bonus points for familiarity with front-end technologies (e.g., Vue) for occasional cross-functional collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent demonstrated ability.
